John Bull 2017
Last weekend, myself and a friend “Ed” attended the John Bull Rally over in Belgium, hosted by the BSAOC of Belgium, the rally was situated just off a quiet road within walking distance of the Tyne Cott war graves.
The journey there and back was to the most part uneventful, but I got soaked through on the way to Ramsgate with heavy rain for the whole journey down, but then if you didn’t like getting wet occasionaly, you would never ride Motorcycles over here in the UK.
On getting to France we opted to take all minor small roads to get to the rally site, great roads and almost no traffic, and an hour or so later we were close enough to stop for coffee, and grab a picture or two.
After a coffee at a small Cafe under this Windmill, and some supplies from a local shop, we were once again on the road, and a few miles later at the rally site to set up camp for the weekend.
If you have nothing to do over the weekend of January 26th, why not drop along to the Bric & Brac autojumble at Zonnebeke, in Belgium. Why not make a weekend of it and include a visit to Bruges too?

I have now booked myself in for the John Bull Rally over in Belgium at the end of the month, hopefully I will be on my Moto Guzzi, but if not it will be with my trusty old R80st. So if you see an old guy with a shaved head, and a camera glued to his hand, that will be me, so stop me and say hello.

I always have a camera with me, I never leave home without it, so I always have some odd pictures kicking about the hard drive of my PC, nothing fancy, just shots I take as and when I get the chance. But the thing is, I always intend to use the pictures, but as I take so many, they soon start to add up, and often get forgotten about. Such is the case with these next few…
Looking forward to next year, and getting dates in the diary, I have the date for the John Bull Rally in Belgium, a great rally, well hosted by the Belgian BSA-OC, so if you ride something British (or anything old and European) why not pack a tent and come along..

So maybe I will see a few of you there?
As April drew to a close, and May came a knocking, and all that coinsiding with a bank holiday, and an extended one at that due to a Royal wedding, and it being the same weekend of the John Bull rally in Belgium, and the Fleet lions rally in well Fleet, the weekend looked busy, and so it was.
So with the BMW loaded up, it was time to head for Kent, where I would spend the night ready for the 8am ferry from Dover the next morning. After a night of beer and Chinese food at a friends house we headed out to meet up with a few more at the ferry port.
Pretty soon we were in Belgium having lunch at the town of Lo.
and then on to the rally site, were the weather and company were fantastic. While here we also visited Ipres, and the Tyn Cot cemetery, a very sombre place. but well worth a visit.
