My mate Shaun invited me to attend the Indian Riders Club rally at Kenley airfield over the August holiday weekend. So i loaded up the camping gear on the W650 and headed out for the weekend on a sunny Friday morning.

After a tricky ride around the south of London avoiding all motorways, I finally made it to Kenley, ready for a good weekend catching up with friends.

Berkshire Velocette Day…

One of the smaller events I try to support each year is the local Velocette club meet, at the Cherry Tree pub, in Stoke Row. And once again it never disappointed, with great weather, and some lovely bikes.

And while the Velocette’s looked great, and some of the other attending bikes were also nice, the bike that stood head and shoulders above everything there was a wonderful  old 1920 Indian, in original paint, and thankfully unrestored.

Stafford Show…

Last Saturday I paid a visit to the Stafford show, at Stafford County show ground. I have not been for a few years, and I think it may be a few more before I go again. The bike jumble outside was good fun, but the show inside was to tight to move around, and as for the concessions vans, I think they may have been the same people who carried out the Hatton garden Robbery over Easter! £19.80 for three bacon rolls, and three cups of instant coffee! daylight robbery, and totally unnecessary.

See you there…

Ok then here are the pics from the Rally…

At short notice I decided to attend the V-Twin rally down in Fordingbridge on the edge of the New Forest, down in Hampshire, I thought it was about time to give my Ambo “Black Bess”  it’s first rally, and as a couple of friends were going, I loaded up the bike for the first time, and headed out.
Now this long weekend coincides with with the last week of the school holidays, so you can guess what the roads were like, they were rammed full of people trying to get away. But I pointed my old bike south, and just filtered through the long lines of standing traffic, the sun shining, a warm breeze blowing, and my Guzzi rattling away underneath me, and taking the miles in its stride.

About an hour into the journey I pulled into a service station, to give the bike and myself a rest, and as the Guzzi ticked away as the motor cooled down I looked it over for signs of oil, and Nothing, not a drop, all was dry. so twenty minutes later I once again started the old thing up, and headed South again on the last leg of my journey, this time it was the small scenic roads across the New Forest, and the worst lunch I have ever eaten, courtesy of the Fighting Cocks just outside Fordingbridge! avoid it with a very long pole, I wonder how you can both overcook something, and still serve it cold?  Ten minutes later though and I was pulling into Rally central, and signing in, to a very busy rally field.

I Have A Dream…

I n the words of Martin Luther King, “I have a dream” and although it may not be as grand a dream as his, it is still a dream.  And my dream is American “Flatheads”,  either an Indian of some description, probably a 741 Scout, or a Harley WLA, but one of these days when funds allow, I shall have a US flathead V-twin.

Indian 741

So in this post I shall put a few Indian pictures I have taken over the last couple of years, and my next post shall be Harleys WL series flathead.
