Today at Kempton…

It has been a while since I posted some pictures from Kempton, actually it has been a while since I posted any pictures from anywhere! I have not been feeling to well since late last year, and am having trouble with my right leg, so today I was feeling a little better, and today for the first time in six months I actually took one of my bikes for a short ride. So hopefully normal service will soon be resumed.

So today at Kempton, I never took loads of pictures, got to ease myself back in to this, as kneeling on the pavement is tough on my old bones.

The very las part of the jigsaw was put in place today, when I received the original registration from the DVLA, not a new reg, but the original old registration,  the guys at the DVLA used the frame number to track down the original number, and now it is back where it belongs, back on the old Norton, and back on the road.

So a project I started in November 2011 has now come to an end, it has I think been fun.

Well what can I say, my Norton “Garden Gate” Clubman came back home today, the motor is all finished with the later head fitted, now it is just a case of tidying things up a bit over the coming winter…

One Last Step…

So I am nearly at the end of my journey, and have one last step to go, in the small matter of getting the Norton registered (getting a title for the US contingent). I started this whole crazy dream back in November 2011, with just a frame I found on Ebay….

Norton project

And now here I am five years later, with a dating certificate telling me the Norton was built at the Norton works factory in Birmingham back on 26th June 1952, and was despatched to  Bennet’s of Southampton. Who knows what the bike got up to in the intervening years, but it is once again a fully working Norton, and ready to be out on the open road next summer. Just one final piece of paperwork, that is all I need.

I have a few more pictures from Popham, there are always some nice bikes both in the show area, and in the carpark…

I quite fancied this 1969 T120 project, but is it right?

Berkshire Velocette Day…

One of the smaller events I try to support each year is the local Velocette club meet, at the Cherry Tree pub, in Stoke Row. And once again it never disappointed, with great weather, and some lovely bikes.

And while the Velocette’s looked great, and some of the other attending bikes were also nice, the bike that stood head and shoulders above everything there was a wonderful  old 1920 Indian, in original paint, and thankfully unrestored.

It is getting close to that time of year again, great rally, well organised, so why not come along and see for yourself.

I had a little blast up the road today, fast & loud would sum it up, sure there are still things to sort out, not least of which is the registration, but what a moment this is for me, it has truly been a labour of love over the las few years.

Saturday was another Kempton Jumble, organised by EGP, Eric and the crew, and very good again, they do such a good well organised event, easily the best auto jumble in the UK.

Best bike in the car park was this Matchless, the attention to detail was damn near faultless.
