My mate Shaun invited me to attend the Indian Riders Club rally at Kenley airfield over the August holiday weekend. So i loaded up the camping gear on the W650 and headed out for the weekend on a sunny Friday morning.
After a tricky ride around the south of London avoiding all motorways, I finally made it to Kenley, ready for a good weekend catching up with friends.

I have got myself booked into another rally for 2020, this one is run by the Ridgeway mcc in Oxfordshire, and is the “George to the Dragon rally”

I have not done as much as I would have liked through 2019, my health has not been great, but I am sure things will sort out? well I hope they do. As we head into a new year, and a new decade, I have already booked into a couple of camps, the first being in January! Brrrrrr.
My last camp of 2019 was held at a fort on the south coast, a great event celebrating the Solent MCC 50th anniversary.

Kent Shaun invited me down to darkest Kentland for the annual VMCC Sittingbourne summer camp, So of course I loaded up the Guzzi Eldo Friday after work, and headed East, a couple of hours dodging thunder storms later, and I pulled into Newnham village down one of those little Kent lanes, and was met with a beer, while I pitched my tipi, and settled back for the evening with fish and chips. (well Friday was national fish and chip day)

Not everything went to plan though, on the run out on Saturday, I had a bad knocking sound coming from the motor, fearing the worst, I pulled over, only to find my recently installed alternator assembly had broken its support bracket. leaving the whole lot to bounce around! so out with the cable ties to do a roadside repair. But the day was saved by another rally goer, who brazed the broken bracket back together for me. He did a good job too, as I made it back home with no further problems, but I will pull the alternator down , and make sure all is tight in that area, before the next rally.

John Bull 2017
This weekend over here in good old blighty, was one of those National holiday weekends with an extra day off, today in fact. So being a long weekend it would seem rude not to head out on a bike, meet up with some mates and have a good time, despite the vagaries of the ever so English weather.
So this very weekend saw me, Shaun, Bob, Marcus, and Dancing Dave, heading all points south, to Fordingbridge in the old “New Forest” and the home of the 2015 Vee Twin International rally, held by those nice people of the GB Guzzi club.
So on a sunny Friday I dragged out, and loaded up my 75 Shovelhead, and headed out..

And after what seemed like hours later, due to having to filter through stationary traffic for over twenty miles, no fun on a loaded shovel I can tell you. I arrived at rally central, booked in, and found Bob already set up and relaxing out on the rally field. So after pitching the tent, it was time for a quick wander around the field to see what was about.
