Gilera Saturno, vintage 1948, I may even get a ride on this one, as it looks like a friend is going to buy it, I do hope so, what a cool motorcycle, often described as the Italian Goldstar.. Although I bet that gear pedal takes some getting used too.

Saturday today here in the UK started warm and sunny, so I dropped down to the lockup and pulled the Z1b from its slumbers, where it had lain unused for too
long, so long in fact that the clutch had seized, but that was easily freed up, and soon it was sat there burbling away on tickover, while I put the lid on, snicked into first gear and headed out for coffee…

Pretty soon and a short ride away I was parked up in my local MacDonalds, with my first coffee of the day. The bike looked great so I grabbed a quck phone pic, before heading on out.

I like the easy laid back quality of the phone pictures, they look like they were taken with a Polaroid back in the 70’s.

After coffee, I called in at my local bike shop, and topped up the oil in the Zed, before heading out to the Triumph owners club show, and the delights to be seen there…

Wade in the US has just sent me some pictures of his BSA Goldstar, and some other bikes at 6th street specials, it just so happens that 6th Street Specials is one of the great East Coast bastions of all things two-wheeled, British and vintage, and can be found located in Manhattans lower East side…

Wade outside 6th street specials, NY.

Run by Hugh Mackie, a native Scot, and his Japanese friend Fumi, it is a mecca for the classic biker in NYC.

I came across this nice BSA Goldstar today, complete with vintage helmet sitting on the seat in the parking lot of a fish & chip joint, where the owner was having some lunch..
